Under that fierce jet-black bob cut lies a gigantic spider tattoo on the side of Demi Lovato‘s head. That was the first thing I thought about while watching the teaser of their new music video on July 13. Makes sense, right? Only someone with a tattoo as bold as theirs would be able to tear a room apart and stomp their feet loud and clear atop a table surrounded by what appear to be generic music industry executives. Though the video for Lovato’s latest single, “Substance,” is not set to release until Friday, July 15, they teased it with a 15-second clip — and we can already tell their hairstyle of choice is set to have a performance of its own.
In the video, Lovato wears a pin-straight, shoulder-length bob accompanied by blunt bangs and a bright red lip. Lovato’s bob fit right into the theme with its grunge aesthetic and their give-no-fucks demeanor in the music video teaser.
The singer has sported almost every type of haircut we can possibly think of, including short pixie hair with side-swept bangs and several mullets — but this exact combination of bob and bangs isn’t one of them.
We can’t help but ask: Is their latest bob costarring in this video with Lovato for real, or might we have to hunt down their wig supplier? (We’re guessing the latter.) Either way, we are loving their latest look from every angle — especially as they free-fall from a building with the slightest smirk on their face in the music video teaser.
