Congratulations are in order for Jennifer Lopez (or should we say Jennifer Affleck?), who made it official with Ben 20 years after their initial engagement. The pair tied the knot in a surprise Las Vegas drive-through on July 17. As we would expect from the ever-glamorous J. Lo, she gave the low-key wedding venue a touch of luxury in an upcycled designer gown from a movie, a full face of romantic makeup, and a gorgeous half-updo that gave us all the Y2K vibes.
Lopez’s go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton, who was responsible for the bridal updo, posted a cute video of the bride-to-be shortly before she and Ben said “I do,” in part to show off his handiwork. “I feel amazing. I’m so excited,” Lopez says in the video, twirling and checking out her reflection as Appleton films. “You look gorgeous,” he says, and we detect no lies here.
Lopez and Appleton crafted a dreamy half-updo for the wedding celebration, which required pulling her shiny brunette hair back from her face and pinning it at the crown for a retro-inspired look that reminds us of both the ’60s and the futuristic-mod looks of the late ’90s and early ’00s — a brilliant choice for a Las Vegas elopement. The rest of her hair was styled in long, voluminous, bouncy curls that she wore both brushed forward and flowing down her back once she added a veil for the ceremony. The half-up style is one Lopez has worn throughout the decades and clearly feels comfortable and beautiful in; it’s a timeless style that will look as gorgeous in 20 years as it did on her big day.
