How to achieve summer skin without going hard on the bronzer? Make like Billie Eilish and try a sun-kissed flush across cheekbones instead. The singer’s latest post on Instagram shows her freckled skin looking fresh and glowy in mirror selfies.
Given that Eilish is naturally pale-skinned, using blush rather than bronzer is a great route to take when it comes to summery skin because it creates a more realistic finish. For a “sunburnt blush” look like this, makeup artists love to use cream blush because it melts into skin seamlessly while imparting a dewy – and natural-looking – radiance. Excellent formulas include Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks and Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. Simply use fingers to blend onto the apples and high points of the cheekbones.
Another great trick to try is to emphasize your freckles — or add them in if they don’t actually exist — to make it seem like you’ve spent time in the sun, even if the reality is a hat and SPF. While there are many freckle pens on the market (Freck’s is a popular option), a pro trick is to use your eyebrow pencil or pen and dot them haphazardly across the bridge of the nose and cheeks.
