Glossier Foundation: Worth the Hype?

Glossier Foundation: My Honest Review

, Glossier Foundation: Worth the Hype?

It’s been years since I first dipped my finger into Glossier’s cult-favorite Stretch Concealer. So, when I heard a Glossier foundation was in the works, I was excited to see the Stretch franchise live on, and come back in a big way. The brand-new Glossier Stretch Fluid Foundation is getting rave reviews, so I had to put it to the test myself. These are my honest thoughts.

The Benefits:

First, I love that the foundation contains 89-percent skin-care ingredients and 11 percent pigments. I am at the point in my life where I want multitasking formulas, especially when it comes to makeup. Mascaras that condition my lashes, foundation that enhances my complexion—you name it. Some of the noteworthy ingredients include squalane and glycerin, which help support the skin’s moisture barrier. Wild rose berry and plankton extract were included to assist with oil control while also keeping the skin hydrated.

The brand sent me the shade Light 4 to try, which contains pink undertones. There are 32 shades in total, ranging from Very Light to Very Deep. When I first swatched the formula on my cheek, I thought it was one shade too light. However, once I blended it in thoroughly with a brush, it suited me well. There’s also a nice shade finder on the brand’s website, and when I took the short quiz, it also suggested Light 4 for my skin tone.

Other key attributes for this foundation are that it’s vegan, sweat-resistant, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and suitable for all skin types. In a clinical study conducted by a third-party testing facility on 50 people, 100 percent of participants said the formula was lightweight and felt like skin care. Additionally, 98 percent said the formula feels flexible, looks like skin and allows the skin to breathe. They also agreed that their skin still looked hydrated after 12 hours.

What Glossier Foundation Looks Like on My Skin

Below is a picture of me wearing the Glossier foundation without any concealer, blush, bronzer or other complexion product so you can see the coverage and finish. The brand describes the coverage as light-to-medium, but I personally find it more on the medium end. It’s definitely buildable and a little goes a long way. After applying it, the only place I still saw some redness on my face was the bridge of my nose, which I typically correct with concealer anyway. Otherwise, it evened out my skin tone and felt really comfortable.

How to Use It:

According to the brand, you should shake the bottle to combine the skin-care base with the amino acid-coated pigments. One. pump is recommended, and as I mentioned before, a little goes a long way. You also want to make sure your skin is moisturized so that the foundation goes on evenly and smooth. I used a foundation brush to apply it, but you could also use your fingers or a sponge.
